BBQ#165 Blake’s BBQ, Martin, Tennessee

I was given this recommendation by a barbecue chef and it did require me to drive one hour out of my way but he should be it is worth it. When I approached I see a small food truck and to pets at the back and I am already excited because I can smell the pit working. The main reason I went here is because the pitmaster Blake Is only 25 years of age and apparently is producing Texas style and quality barbecue.

Blake

One of the things I really liked from the beginning was how friendly and open he was, and more importantly his mum. After talking to him for a few minutes he was telling me that he has been to Texas many many times to learn from some of the best Pit Masters that is why I believe he has such a good skill. I cannot tell you how good this barbecue was in words but I have tried over 164 barbecue places and this onecertainly sits in my top 10.

It is often hard to describe food so often pictures are the best way but I will do my best as the ribs with probably some of the best I have ever had, they were fall off the bone, The rub was unique and it was not too sweet or peppery it was just very very tasty., The robe was unique and it was not too sweet or peppery it was just very very tasty.

Moving on to the brisket, it was extra moist, it had a fantastic and delicious fat layer, The Rub was similar to the ribs it was not too peppery not too powerful just really tasty. The quality of the meat was excellent and in summary it was just delicious.

They are also known for their pulled pork which was really nice and the pimento cheese and biscuits was a great touch. They also offer devilled eggs and the barbecue sauce I tasted was lovely I’m rich and added some punch to your meat if you needed it.

I have no doubt that he will become a great pitmaster if he sticks with it and continues to learn like he’s doing, I am so glad I took my detour to go meet Blake and his family I am truly blessed.
